Online Talk, July 1st: The Rule of Law Crisis and the EU's Response

With the academic year and thereby our series coming to an end, we would like to look inwards and address the internal struggles facing the EU’s ability and credibility to diffuse its norms globally. Next Thursday, July 1st at 18.00 (s.t.) we will hold a panel discussion on the EU’s rule of law crisis. Under the topic “The Rule of Law Crisis and the EU's Response” MEP Daniel Freund and Dr. Radosveta Vassileva will share their individual expertise with us, engage in discussion and answer our questions.

Radosveta Vassileva currently works as a Visiting Research Fellow at Middlesex University. She holds a PhD in law and is concerned with the rule of law, among other topics. She is especially attentive to the rule of law, corruption and democracy in Bulgaria and will share insights into developments in the country.

Since 2019, Daniel Freund has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) where he focuses on corruption mitigation and efforts to stop the rule of law backsliding in the EU. Before joining the European Parliament, he worked on corruption issues as the Head of Advocacy EU Integrity at Transparency International in Brussels.
